Ces cr\u00e9atures marines ne sont cependant pas seulement nou\u00e9es dans leur forme apparente, mais aussi dans leur construction. Pour faire un crochet, on utilise un instrument (le crochet) pour emm\u00ealer le fil sur lui-m\u00eame, construisant ainsi des entrelacement dont la complexit\u00e9 augmente \u00e0 chaque maille r\u00e9alis\u00e9e.<\/p>\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Complexe ou n\u0153ud<\/h3>\n\n<p>Cette complexit\u00e9 du travail au crochet, comme du tricot, n&rsquo;est v\u00e9ritablement r\u00e9alis\u00e9e que lors d&rsquo;une derni\u00e8re \u00e9tape extraordinaire. Alors que la notion conventionnelle d&rsquo;un n\u0153ud est celle d&rsquo;une action sur un fil, les n\u0153uds math\u00e9matiques sont des boucles ferm\u00e9es. L&rsquo;artiste du crochet, pendant qu&rsquo;il travaille, peut faire partie de cette boucle : en prenant la pelote de fil dans une main et la queue de l&rsquo;\u0153uvre dans l&rsquo;autre, il devient une boucle ferm\u00e9e qui contient son \u0153uvre. On peut se demander \u00e0 quel point cette boucle est compliqu\u00e9e.<\/p>\n\n<p>Il existe plusieurs fa\u00e7ons de quantifier la simplicit\u00e9 ou la complexit\u00e9 d&rsquo;un n\u0153ud, mais la plupart de ces mesures consid\u00e8rent qu&rsquo;un n\u0153ud est \u00e9quivalent, \u00e0 la fois en termes d&rsquo;identit\u00e9 et de complexit\u00e9, \u00e0 tout n\u0153ud qui peut \u00eatre obtenu en le transformant via des <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Reidemeister_move\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong>mouvements de Reidemeister<\/strong><\/a>. Chaque point de tricot et de crochet est en fait un mouvement de Reidemeister (surtout les mouvements de type II). Ainsi, lorsqu&rsquo;un crochet est en cours, tout ce qui est fait, d&rsquo;un point de vue math\u00e9matique, n&rsquo;ajoute aucune complexit\u00e9. Un mopuvement brusque sur un ouvrage au crochet, ou une maille oubli\u00e9e au tricot, obligera l&rsquo;ouvrage \u00e0 se d\u00e9faire de lui-m\u00eame. Seulement lors de la derni\u00e8re \u00e9tape, ces ouvrages passent soudain, au sens math\u00e9matique du terme, du trivial \u00e0 l&rsquo;extraordinaire. Lorsque le fil est coup\u00e9 et que son extr\u00e9mit\u00e9 libre est pass\u00e9e dans la derni\u00e8re maille, le n\u0153ud que formaient le crochet et le corps de l&rsquo;artisan n&rsquo;est plus trivial. Ainsi, ses nombreux entrelacements ne peuvent plus \u00eatre d\u00e9faits par des mouvements de Reidemeister. Selon une certaine norme de mesure, l&rsquo;ouvrage est encore tr\u00e8s simple. <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Unknotting_number\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong>Le nombre de d\u00e9nouage<\/strong><\/a> est le nombre de fois que le fil devrait \u00eatre crois\u00e9 sur lui-m\u00eame pour que le noeud redevienne trivial, et son nombre de d\u00e9nouage n&rsquo;est que de 1. Mais selon presque toutes les autres normes, m\u00eame un simple ouvrage crochet\u00e9 ou tricot\u00e9 est un n\u0153ud d&rsquo;une \u00e9norme complexit\u00e9.<\/p>\n\n<p>L&rsquo;\u00e9norme complexit\u00e9 de ce qui est apparemment trivial est \u00e9galement connue des artisans du crochet, sous la forme d&rsquo;un ph\u00e9nom\u00e8ne diff\u00e9rent, appel\u00e9 en anglais le \u00ab\u00a0yarn barf\u00a0\u00bb (vomis de fil). Cela se produit lorsqu&rsquo;une pelote lib\u00e8re brusquement un amas inextricable de fil emm\u00eal\u00e9 \u00e0 l&rsquo;extr\u00e9mit\u00e9 du crochet. En raison de la fa\u00e7on dont les pelotes sont enroul\u00e9es, cet entrelacement est toujours trivial au sens math\u00e9matique, en ce sens qu&rsquo;il peut \u00eatre compl\u00e8tement d\u00e9nou\u00e9 sans avoir \u00e0 le croiser avec la pelote ou le crochet. Une banalit\u00e9 th\u00e9orique n&rsquo;est cependant d&rsquo;aucune aide pour l&rsquo;artisan qui veut savoir <strong>comment <\/strong>remettre le fil en place!<\/p>\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Les algorithmes des n\u0153uds<\/h3>\n\n<p>La question de savoir comment d\u00e9m\u00ealer des fils entrelac\u00e9s, ou m\u00eame comment reconna\u00eetre, sans aide ext\u00e9rieur (comme c&rsquo;est le cas dans les pelotes), si un fil peut \u00eatre d\u00e9m\u00eal\u00e9, rel\u00e8ve du domaine des <strong>algorithmes<\/strong>. Ce probl\u00e8me algorithmique particulier du \u00ab\u00a0d\u00e9nouage\u00a0\u00bb n&rsquo;est pas tr\u00e8s bien connu. Sur l&rsquo;\u00e9chelle de difficult\u00e9 des probl\u00e8mes algorithmiques, le d\u00e9nouage n&rsquo;est que tr\u00e8s vaguement plac\u00e9 : il existe une famille de probl\u00e8mes algorithmiquement faciles appel\u00e9e \u00ab\u00a0P\u00a0\u00bb, une famille de probl\u00e8mes v\u00e9rifiables mais apparemment difficiles appel\u00e9e \u00ab\u00a0NP-complet\u00a0\u00bb, et une cat\u00e9gorie plus large contenant \u00e0 la fois P et NP-complet, connu sous le nom de \u00ab\u00a0NP\u00a0\u00bb. On sait seulement que le probl\u00e8me du d\u00e9nouage appartient \u00e0 NP, ce qui ne nous apprend pas grand-chose.<\/p>\n\n<p>Au fur et \u00e0 mesure que les mailles s&rsquo;accumulent sur une \u0153uvre, ces id\u00e9es de complexit\u00e9 et de trivialit\u00e9 sont toujours pr\u00e9sentes. Un crochet, m\u00eame s&rsquo;il gagne une apparente complexit\u00e9, est une trivialit\u00e9 qui menace constamment de se d\u00e9faire, alors que la complexit\u00e9 apparente des \u00ab\u00a0yarn barf\u00a0\u00bb r\u00e9siste obstin\u00e9ment \u00e0 \u00eatre expos\u00e9e comme triviale.
